Generally, a student apartment is only one room and that encourages a lazy
lifestyle because we don't need to move. We are too familiar with the general Japanese small apartment and similar size spaces. So I considered the
reverse idea which is an independent space for each function in order to change one's lifestyle.

A dwelling space is one part of living and life repeats itself in a daily cycle.
But every day is not the same and if we look carefully, we can find the differences in details. I think nothing is clear and life seems ambiguous. Also our life has a lot of opposite aspects so I wanted to represent the contradictions of existence. Those were the roots of my idea.

I designed contrastive spaces as narrow and wide, closed and open, low and high, light and heavy, dark and bright. These spaces make people feel refreshed because, for example, the bright space is set off by the shadowy space. This is a psychological feeling of space. And also each utility has a useful function and these have distance and contrasting spaces that include human ergonomics.

This idea has the possibility that humans will
get used to this distance and will not feel troubled and will be able to go along life's path with a refreshed lifestyle.
I wanted to represent the contrast expressing
the feeling of getting into space. It's like linking light to air and air to space. Also it's like penetrating and warping space.
